Who is the IAM Certificate for?
The IAM Certificate is aimed at those new to asset management or with some initial experience of working in an asset management role. Equally, you may have worked in asset management for a while and wish to embark on discipline-relevant qualifications.
Who is the IAM Diploma for?
A more advanced qualification for those that have already obtained the Certificate, aimed at individuals with prior asset management knowledge and experience, typically working in or preparing for specialist or management roles.
Through Pearson Vue, our exams can be taken at either one of over 5,500 centres in 180 countries around the world at a venue set up and facilitated by one of our exam approved Endorsed Training Providers, or at home, through the secure and monitored OnVue exam portal.
Exam Special Arrangements or Reasonable Adjustments
The examinations platform provider, Pearson VUE, offers appropriate accommodations to individuals who can demonstrate a documented need. These test accommodations—also known as “special arrangements” or “reasonable adjustments”—are assessed individually and considered on a case-by-case basis by, or in partnership with, the IAM.
Examples of accommodations available through Pearson VUE include:
- Extra testing time
- A separate testing room
- Additional breaks
To request accommodations, please contact the IAM at exams@theiam.org . You will need to provide relevant documentation of your condition, typically a medical letter. This documentation is reviewed solely for the purpose of verifying the request and is destroyed immediately after the accommodation is approved.
Once your request is approved, the IAM will liaise with the Pearson VUE Accommodations Team to arrange the specific accommodations you require.
Pearson VUE will then contact you directly to discuss the arrangements and schedule your exam.

There are no entry requirements for the qualification and it is not essential to be an IAM member, however, registration with the IAM is required. Please ensure you are logged in before applying for the IAM Certificate or Diploma.
