Workshop Overview

This full-day, hands-on workshop is a deep dive into your organization’s approach to managing data for asset management decisions.

So many organizations are collecting and managing huge datasets, to improve asset management maturity. Many find themselves ‘data rich’ and yet still ‘poor’ in terms of meaningful insights and inputs into decision-making. Many have infrastructure status reports and asset plans leveraging different information than from operations, and decisions leveraging different information than used in the plans. Many also find themselves implementing technology systems and new capabilities, while encountering the same challenges of fragmented datasets, unclear data usage and siloed technology ecosystems. Meanwhile, decision makers are facing increased pressure and scrutiny, escalating costs and increased risks necessitating a more streamlined and transparent approach to evidence-informed decisions. Overall, trust in the information needs to be bolstered.

This workshop seeks to help participants take a strategic, holistic approach to the governance and management of critical data, including both asset data and other key inputs required for decision-making. Choose-your-own adventure exercises will be focused on a particular service area/asset class or a context that fits your unique organizational and role requirements. Examples used in the session will leverage real, anonymized data and technology situations.

The workshop will follow the thread throughout the day, tying the specific asset decisions that need to be made, back to the data to be captured, collected, managed and leveraged, and finally to the people, processes, governance and culture that serve as the foundation for a sustainable asset management program and long-term operational excellence.

Core Learning Objectives
