The Qualifications, Training and Professional Development Committee (QTPDC) supports the development of asset management capability and professional competence within Uganda.

Dr. Jemimah Connie Akiror - Chairperson

Dr. Jemimah Connie Akiror is the Manager of Asset Management at Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL), where she leads the development and implementation of the Company’s Asset Management Policy, Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP), and initiatives to strengthen organizational asset management capability. Under her leadership, UEGCL’s asset management maturity has progressed from 0.7 at the initial assessment to 2.2, reflecting significant progress in establishing and embedding asset management practices across the organization.
With a PhD in Electrical Engineering and a Diploma in Asset Management from the Institute of Asset Management (IAM), Dr. Akiror combines deep technical expertise with strategic asset and business management. Her technical experience includes electromagnetic modelling and performance analysis of hydro generators, supported by research and several peer-reviewed publications.
Her professional career includes development and implementation of asset management systems and supporting the preparation and establishment of operations and maintenance (O&M) systems for major hydropower projects during construction with a focus on ensuring operational readiness, maintenance requirements, procedures, resources and technical documentation for the transition into operations.
Dr. Akiror is actively engaged in the development and advancement of industry good practice through her contributions to IEEE, CIGRE and CEATI, with particular interests in asset lifecycle management, reliability, condition assessment, refurbishment and replacement strategies, and the economic evaluation of critical power generation assets. Her work focuses on bridging engineering, asset management and strategic decision-making to improve the performance, risk management and lifecycle value of power generation assets.
Her connection with the Institute of Asset Management goes beyond the establishment of the Uganda Chapter. Dr. Akiror has been a member of IAM since before the launch of the IAM Uganda Chapter in November 2025.
