About IAM Uganda

Welcome to the Ugandan Chapter of the Institute of Asset Management, the first IAM Chapter in Africa

Founded in June 2025, the Chapter was established to advance professional asset management practices in Uganda and across the region.

We are part of the Institute of Asset Management (IAM), a globally recognized, not-for-profit professional body founded in the United Kingdom with over 30 years of experience in shaping global standards, frameworks, and competencies for managing physical assets, including infrastructure, utilities, energy, transport, and industrial systems, across their full life cycle.

To position Uganda as a regional leader in asset management, ensuring that infrastructure and service assets deliver lasting value for people, organizations, and the economy.

  • Networking & engagement: Connecting professionals from government, utilities, private sector, academia, and development partners.
  • Advocacy & awareness: Championing structured asset management to improve infrastructure investment and service outcomes.

 

IAM UGANDA CHAPTER TEAM

 

Eng. Horace Muhamya - President

Eng. Horace Muhamya is a dynamic infrastructure professional and public sector leader with a strong track record in engineering, asset management, and water service delivery. As the Founding President of the IAM Uganda Chapter, the first IAM Chapter on the African continent, he is spearheading a national movement toward sustainable and value-driven asset management practices.

Horace holds a BSc in Civil and Environmental Engineering, an MBA, an MSc in Environment and Natural Resources, and a Masters in Public Infrastructure Management. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a registered engineer with the Engineers Registration Board of Uganda. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Engineering with a focus on water service delivery and infrastructure sustainability.

With nearly a decade of experience in Uganda’s water utility sector, Horace has played a pivotal role in strengthening infrastructure governance and operational excellence through his work at the Ministry of Water and Environment – South Western Umbrella of Water and Sanitation (SWUWS), where he leads key initiatives that advance structured asset management.

He is an alumnus of the Young Expert Programme (WaterWorX) and the Knowledge Co-Creation Program in Japan (JICA), both of which reflect his strong commitment to international collaboration, professional growth, and global best practice exchange.

Horace remains passionate about empowering institutions and individuals to make informed, lifecycle-based infrastructure decisions that improve service delivery, sustainability, and long-term value in Uganda and globally.

 

 

Ms. Ssanyu Kaganzi – Vice President

Ssanyu Kaganzi is a passionate advocate for asset management excellence in Uganda and the wider region. She is a driving force behind efforts to shift organizations in Uganda from reactive to proactive asset management practices. 

As a Director at Asset Business Solutions and its current CEO, she brings over 17 years of experience in asset management consulting and strategic leadership. Her leadership is marked by her commitment to helping organizations optimize the performance and sustainability of their assets through structured, standards-based approaches.

Ssanyu is an Electrical Engineer from Makerere University, and she is a member of the Institute of Asset Management (UK), holds qualifications from the same. Ssanyu is a pioneer beneficiary of IAM UK’s Edwards Bursary and is a certified ISO 55001 Provisional Implementer.

Her voice has reached global platforms, including the IAM Annual Conference in 2020 and 2021, where she presented on climate change response strategies in East Africa—demonstrating her passion to foster sustainability.

Beyond her professional work, Ssanyu is a born-again Christian, wife, and mother of four biological children. She is deeply devoted to mentoring young people, empowering them to grow holistically and realize their God-given potential.

 

 

Eng. Bujure Moses Godfrey - Director

Eng. Bujure Moses Godfrey is a seasoned Civil Engineer with over 18 years of progressive experience in the planning, delivery, and management of water supply and wastewater services in Uganda. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, a Master of Science in Water and Sanitation, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management.

Throughout his career, Eng. Bujure has been a vocal advocate for structured asset management as a strategic tool for enhancing infrastructure sustainability and improving service delivery. His commitment to advancing asset-based planning, preventive maintenance, and data-driven decision-making has positioned him as a leading figure in Uganda’s water and sanitation sector.

He has served as Utility Manager for three of the country’s regional Umbrella Authorities Central, Eastern, and South Western Umbrellas of Water and Sanitation where he led technical operations, optimized service delivery models, and nurtured cross-functional teams. He serves as a Principal Engineer at the Ministry of Water and Environment, and also holds the critical position of National Coordinator for the Umbrella Utilities, responsible for harmonizing performance, guiding policy alignment, and supporting regional utility transformation.

Beyond his national role, Eng. Bujure actively leads and contributes to multi-sectoral project teams, focusing on infrastructure development, climate resilience, and institutional strengthening. His ability to bridge technical implementation with strategic oversight continues to shape national approaches to asset sustainability and service quality.

 

 

Henry Mulindwa - Director

Henry is a seasoned asset management professional with over a decade of experience in physical asset optimization and maintenance. He has successfully supported strategic asset management initiatives across various sectors, including; real estate, healthcare, education and mining, with a strong focus on aligning operations with ISO 55000 standards. His expertise spans asset lifecycle planning, maturity audits/assessments, and systems implementation.

Henry holds the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) Diploma (UK), and is both a Certified Asset Management Assessor (CAMA) and a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP).

Beyond his technical contributions, Henry serves as the Programs and Communications Lead (Director) at the IAM Uganda Chapter where he is deeply committed to advancing the asset management profession in Uganda and East Africa at large.

 

 

Chris Kakyo Emmanuel Kaganda - Director

Chris is a seasoned Asset Management Consultant. He serves as the Head of the Asset Management Solutions Division at Asset Business Solutions, where he is also part of the Management Team. With a Bachelor of Science Degree from Makerere University, alongside professional qualifications in Inventory Management from Uganda Management Institute and Asset Management from the Institute of Asset Management (UK), Chris brings both technical expertise and strategic insight to the asset management field.

He is an affiliate member of The Institute of Asset Management (UK), and continues to champion structured and standards-driven approaches to asset lifecycle management in Uganda and beyond.

Since the inception of Asset Business Solutions in 2012, Chris has been a core member of the team, leading advisory engagements and project-managing asset management service projects as well as improvement initiatives for both public and private sector organizations. Under his leadership, the company has successfully delivered numerous asset management training programs, equipping organizations with the knowledge and tools needed to implement best practices in asset stewardship. His contributions reflect a deep commitment to growing institutional capability in asset management in Uganda and beyond.

 

 

Juliet Nangendo - Secretariat Administrator 

Juliet holds a Bachelor’s degree of Arts in Social Sciences (Major in Public Administration and Management) from Makerere University. She has four years of experience serving as an IRB Administrative Assistant with the School of Medicine Research Ethics Committee at Makerere University College of Health Sciences, where she supported the ethical review and approval process of research protocols submitted by students and investigators, and also worked as a Research Assistant on multiple projects hosted by the same institution.

Inspired by these experiences, Juliet pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management at the Uganda Management Institute to deepen her understanding of project work and enhance her efficiency in administrative roles. Through this training, she developed a strong appreciation for how well-managed systems, assets, and projects contribute to organizational sustainability and effective service delivery.

Juliet currently serves as the Secretariat Administrator for the Institute of Asset Management – Uganda Chapter, where she supports administration and smooth coordination of the chapter’s activities for growth and operational efficiency.


The Institute of Asset Management - UGANDA CHAPTER was launched on 𝟲𝘁𝗵 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 at Silver Springs Hotel Bugolobi, Kampala-Uganda. This event marked the beginning of a new era for asset management excellence in Uganda and across the region.

The event featured insightful opening remarks and a keynote address, a presentation on the value proposition of asset management, a speech from the Guest of Honour, the official signing and unveiling ceremony of the IAM Uganda Chapter, and a dynamic panel discussion on how asset management enhances infrastructure resilience and sustainability.

We were honoured to host representatives from government ministries, utilities, academia, and the private sector - all united by a shared vision of asset management excellence.
