New Work Item Proposal

Recently Completed Work

The launch of the IAM Toolkit in late 2008 saw the completion of that cycle of projects within the IAM.  The Toolkit comprises three products; BSI PAS 55:2008, our Competences Framework and the PAS55 Assessment Methodology

The Institute is scoping a series of workstreams based on its 'Beyond PAS55 Compliance' including a series of related Subject Specific guidelines.  One of these work groups has already drafted a document: a set of Asset Information Guidelines.  The first draft version is available to Members for review after logging in: Asset Information Guidelines.

Full International Standard

After the launch of BSI PAS 55:2008, the IAM has been working hard with the British Standards Institution (BSI) to explore the best way to produce a formal International Standard, through the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
Our aim is to increase the degree of international and cross-sector participation in the development of asset management good practice and application in many more parts of the world. Through the significant ISO membership, the IAM seeks to encourage the inclusion of other relevant documents as well as PAS55 in our search for improvements.
In late July 2009, BSI submitted a proposal to form a "Project Committee" to develop an International Standard.  This ISO Standard would be based upon the good work already captured in PAS55 as well as seeking input from other industries and learned societies from around the world.
The ISO Technical Management Board (ISO/TMB) has reviewed it and a "new work item proposal" has been circulated to all National Standards Bodies (that are members of ISO) for ballot.
