The IAM currently has formal relationships with the organisations listed:

AMC         CIGRE         EFNMS         IET         RICS         SBGI

Asset Management Council (MESA)

The IAM has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Asset Management Council of Australia.  Like the IAM, the AMC is a not for profit organisation whose main objective is to advance all facets of the discipline of Asset Management and to facilitate the exchange of information and related ideas.

The Asset Management Council, was first formed as the Maintenance Engineering Society of Australia Inc (MESA) in the early 1990s, as a Technical Society of the Institution of Engineers Australia.  Since then it has rapidly grown to its present membership of 1300 members.  In 2005, MESA changed its name to reflect its focus of incorporating all aspects of asset management.

CIGRE

The IAM remains an active member (via the Patrons Group) of the International Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE – Conseil International des Grands Reséaus Electriques).

CIGRE is one of the leading worldwide organisations on Electric Power Systems, covering their technical, economic, environmental, organisational and regulatory aspects.  A permanent, non-governmental and non-profit International Association, based in France, CIGRE was founded in 1921.  Issues related to planning and operation of power systems, as well as design, construction, maintenance and disposal of HV equipment and plants are at the core of CIGRE's mission.

IET

The IET and the IAM have recognised that through the Technical & Professional Network (TPN) they can assist the achievement of the purpose and strategies of both.  Through its relationship the IAM obtains access to the IET’s worldwide presence and stature of the IET.  Through the IAM, the IET gains immediate recognition and input from and access to other industry sectors, especially those more advanced in AM such as oil, water and public administration.

The Institution of Engineering and Technology was formed by the merger of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) and the Institution of Incorporated Engineers (IIE) and now has more than 150,000 members worldwide.  It is the largest professional engineering society in Europe and the second largest of its type in the world.

The activities of the Joint Asset Management TPN are open to everyone and we hope both communities will contribute to physical and virtual activities.  Both parties are Learned Societies and any benefits will be shared equally, including copyright and other intellectual property.  The intention of both the IAM and the IET is that every discipline should recognise the relevance of Asset Management theory and practice.

EFNMS

The IAM has a long history of collaboration with and membership of the European Federation of National Maintenance Societies (EFNMS).  Council has recently reconfirmed the IAM's commitment to membership and working more actively to support EFNMS initiatives and the IAM is deputy chair of the EFNMS Asset Mangement Committee..

EFNMS, the European Federation of National Maintenance Societies is a non-profit organization, formed in Duisburg, November 12, 1970, whose objective is the improvement of maintenance for the benefit of the people in Europe.  Maintenance is of great importance to trade and industry, to the environment, and to the public welfare and safety.

RICS

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is the leading source of knowledge for land, property, construction and environmental information.  The RICS history derives from a Surveyors Club that was formed in 1792.  Today, its members offer advice, analysis and guidance on a diverse range of issues and part of their role is to help set, maintain and regulate standards.  They also offer impartial advice to government and policy makers.  RICS promote their profession through maintaining the highest educational and professional standards, protecting its clients and consumers through a strict code of ethics and representing everything that is good in the property profession,

RICS is a global organisation with its headquarters based in London and world regional offices in Brussels, Dubai, Hong Kong, New York and Sydney.

SBGI

The SBGI takes an interest in asset management amongst other member services and specialist areas.  The IAM is glad to endorse relevant SBGI events and activities and these will be shown in our events directory.

The Utility Networks Division of SBGI represents the onshore gas industry supply chain in all sectors of network operations from 'beach-to-meter'.  In addition the organisation is seeking to stretch its representation into areas ‘beyond gas’, lead by its members’ wider business interests in related sectors.  Members include gas distribution network operators, network engineering contractors and equipment providers, metering and metering services companies, and gas storage operators.

Their Energy & Utilities website, facilitated by SBGI, provides a wealth of information about the gas, water, electricity and telecommunications industries relating to key developments, company news and industry-specific events including contact details and profiles of Representative Organisations operating across the energy and utilities sector in the UK.
